Network

The #newmednet network consists of journalists, representative sof the government’s institutions, bloggers, media lawyers, academics, artists, IT experts and internet activists from 14 South–East European and Central European countries. The group has started gathering in October 2013 during the First Regional Consultations in Kotor (Montenegro), and developed further during the Second and Third Regional Consultations that took lace in Budapest (Hungary, 2014), and in Belgrade (Serbia, 2015), when it came to be known as #newmednet. The network’s main point of debate is freedom of expression in the digital environment, and how to understand  the problems and opportunities coming from the new technologies in the media area. The main objective of this project is to advance the freedom of expression in the digital environment, to raise the understanding of problems and opportunities deriving from the new technologies in the area of media and in doing so enhance the state of human rights and rule of law in Serbia and the South-East Europe and Central Europe.
